Junior Citizenship Project

Receently, Year 6 had an exciting opportunity to attend the Junior Citizens Project, which was held at Hargreaves Campsite. The scheme is run by the Metropolitan Police and is designed to make Year 6 children more aware of safety issues such as robbery, drug paraphernalia, road and fire safety. Other issues such as truancy, first aid, recyling and knife crime were also covered.

Both classes mixed with other children from local primary schools behaved exceptionally well and were enthusiatsic and motivated throughout the session.

Well done Year 6.

The class also produced posters with safety messages, in a follow-up session:

'Don't let anybody force you to take anything' By Joy
'Say No - Walk away' By Michael H
'Be safe on the internet - don't give out information about yourself' By Jamie
'Don't go past the yellow line, when using the underground' By Racquel
'Never carry a knife - it's a criminal offence' By Adam
'Knife crime -let's beat it' By Harry
'Make sure that you've got a smoke alarm' By Reanne

The classes were mixed with other schools and completed 12 different safety workshops. They were given marks out of 10 for each scenario presented, in terms of how they dealt with each one.

Well done to Racquel, Michael and Hafsa for being a part of the winning team.
